Devlog #1: Unveiling "Echo Squad" – My Leap Into Game Development

Hello, adventurers and fellow game enthusiasts!

Today marks the beginning of a very personal journey I’m excited to share with you—my development log for “Echo Squad,” a 2D physics-based pixel art side-scrolling shooter. It’s about my leap from knowing barely anything about coding or game development to where I am now.

The Birth of Echo Squad

Three months ago, I embarked on what would become “Echo Squad.” With little to no experience in coding or game development, I was driven by a passion for problem solving and a desire to bring my own visions to life. One of the first steps on this journey was deciding to build my own game engine using C++. To many, this might sound like a monumental task, but in my mind, it was the perfect way to dive deep into coding. It wasn’t just about building something for “Echo Squad”; it was about challenging myself to learn and understand game development from the ground up.

Balancing this project with a 9-5 engineering job hasn’t been easy. My evenings and weekends have been dedicated to turning “Echo Squad” from a dream into a reality. It’s been a journey of relentless learning, experimenting, and applying my engineering mindset to solve the unique puzzles of game development.

Looking Forward

Join me as I navigate the complexities of game development, from developing the engine to understanding the nuances of game mechanics and storytelling. In future devlogs, I plan to share both the challenges I’ve already faced, and the challenges yet to show themselves, including game design insights and engine-specific hurdles.

Your support and feedback are invaluable to me. Together, let’s make “Echo Squad” not just a game but a shared adventure!

Are you ready to answer the echo of the abandoned? Stay tuned for my next update, and thank you for being part of this journey from its very beginning!
